


Dr. Broder is a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist. He received his training in health economics and outcomes research in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at UCLA, medical training at Case Western Reserve University, and undergraduate education at Harvard University. Before entering the life science industry, Dr. Broder conducted health economics and outcomes research at the RAND Corporation, where he gained experience with a wide variety of techniques, including statistical methods for secondary data analysis, decision modeling, Delphi panels, and meta-analysis.
In 2007, as a result of Dr. Broder's innovative use of Delphi panels, the National Institutes of Health chose PHAR to guide a national consensus process to develop a new uterine fibroid disease classification system. Dr. Broder formerly served as Vice President of Zynx Life Sciences/Cerner Health Insights, a health economics consultancy in Beverly Hills.
He has published articles in such journals as the Journal of the American Medical Association, Obstetrics & Gynecology, the Journal of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, and the Journal of Rheumatology. Dr. Broder is the author of two books and multiple book chapters. He is a member of the Cochrane Collaboration and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.





Dr. Chang has extensive experience designing and conducting research studies using secondary data. Before joining PHAR, she was Chief Statistician and Manager, Health Informatics and Health Outcomes Research, at Prescription Solutions in Costa Mesa, California, where she was responsible for the methodology of retrospective and prospective clinical outcomes research. This required the development of predictive models for pharmacy and medical costs and other healthcare utilization with such data-mining techniques as regression models, decision trees, and neural networks.
She also served as Senior Statistician at PacifiCare Health Systems, where she led a team focused on quality initiatives and health improvement projects, including the development of a systematic sampling program for HEDIS 1999 measures. Earlier in her career, at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, she provided statistical support for research grant proposals and study design. She is coauthor of numerous published disease management and outcomes studies, for which she provided statistical design and analytic interpretation.





Dr. Beenhouwer is board-certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. He received his medical degree from Yale University and after a residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, he completed a clinical and research fellowship in infectious diseases at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has conducted systematic reviews on diverse clinical topics.
In addition to his role as Medical Director at PHAR, Dr. Beenhouwer is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at UCLA and an Infectious Disease Specialist in the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System.





Caron is a registered nurse and researcher with over 20 years experience in the design and analysis of various outcomes research projects related to access, quality, cost-effectiveness of pharmaceuticals, and disease and medication management programs. During her nursing career she specialized in critical-care nursing, was an Outcomes Researcher for the MemorialCare System, Director of Clinical Effectiveness and Research for a large hospitalist company, and lead for PacifiCare Health Systems' Cardiovascular Health Quality Initiative. Before joining PHAR, she was a Senior Researcher in the Pharmacoeconomics and Health Outcomes Research department at Prescription Solutions. Caron has authored numerous research articles and her work has been presented locally, nationally, and internationally.
